One Last Push | Disability History Scotland
Animated documentary
Stop-frame animation, looking at the impact of World War I on the treatment and perception of disabilities.
Inspired by souvenirs in the memory chest which the DisHis group had collected - a glass eye, the first disabled concession bus ticket, an early hearing aid, a prosthetic arm. We realised they would be great objects to bring to life and tell the story. We started with a series of audio interviews with the group, edited them down, and storyboarded ways of illustrating their words with the objects . Which Claire then lovingly and painstakingly animated them the old fashioned way - frame by frame.
